BOOK AND MUSIC RECOMENDATIONS
To follow is a list of books and music I would recommend to anyone who would ask. Most of the books are geared toward health and wellness, but others are books I just enjoyed and found to be a good read. I've included a brief description of each.
The Little Prince; Antoine de Saint-Exuprey
This is a book I first read as a young teenager. It became one of my favorites very quickly and is a book that I will pick up time to time to re-read. It is about a man who is stranded on a dessert after his plane crashes and how he meets a little prince. The little prince shares his travels to distant worlds with the man and what he saw and learned from each. Although the book is considered a children's' book, it can be read at a deeper level that speaks of spirituality, love and compassion. I highly recommend this book for both children and adults. It may even be a good choice for a good night story before bed time.
Molecules of Emotion; Candace B Pert, PHD
This book explains how thoughts and emotions affect physical health and well being. It talks about the body-mind connection and how it is our emotions that are the bridge between the body and mind. This bridge is what allows us to enter into conversation with the body mind and to access the healing wisdom that is within each of us.
Biology of Belief; Bruce H Lipton, PHD
Dr. Lipton writes of the 'New Biology'. It is the biology that says that DNA and genes do not control our biology. Conversely, it is the DNA that is controlled by messages from outside of the cell walls, such as, but not limited to, our positive or negative thoughts patterns. Dr. Lipton's scientific studies in cell biology and quantum physics shows that our bodies can be changed as we retrain our thinking.
Heal Your Body; Louise Hay
This book offers a list of health challenges and possible mental/emotional causes for that issue. For each listed, the author offers positive affirmations to help change old thought patterns for new, positive ones.
I Am Joe's Body; JD Ratcliff
This book is designed to help the reader understand the body and how each of the major organs, glands and systems work within it. The author does this brilliantly by personifying each of the major organs and having it tell it's own story.
I believe the book may be out of print, but I found a used copy to add to my library.
Messages from Water; Masoru Emoto
Based upon Dr. Emoto's extensive study of water molecules and how they react to the various influences of their surroundings. He was able to capture this photographically and the book includes these pictures. "The messages from water are telling us to look inside ourselves."
The Power of Now; Eckart Tolle
A powerful book about a seemingly simple concept of living in the now. This book offers information, exercises and meditations on how to do just that. This is not a book that can be read in a day or even a week's time. Mr. Tolle has even added pause markers to indicate it is time for the reader to take a break from reading and contemplate and digest what has just been read. The reader will come away from this book with a new understanding of how our thoughts and emotions hinder our path to true happiness and a life lived in peace.
Chakra Suite; Steven Halpern
On this CD, Mr. Halpern masterfully awakens and re balances the chakras by using mostly electric piano and synthesizers in the keys pertaining to each chakra as follows: 1st chakra = key of C, 2nd = D, 3rd = E, 4th = F, 5th = G, 6th = A, and the 7th chakra is the Key of B. Using these keynotes, the sound therapy principle of entrainment is engaged within the music.
